Regular minutes of Pima Community College of Archaeology Cub held at the Archaeology Center.

  • Meeting was called to order at 4:45pm on 17th October 2006

  • Present: 13 members, including 5 board members

  • Dan presented the logo – words will be on the bottom, instead of an article.
Logo was accepted by an unanimous vote.

  • Book Review done by Teneke VanZandt

  • Book: Site Unseen

  • By: Dana Cameron

  • Can look it up at: www.danacameron.com

  • Summary: This is the first book in her archaeological mysteries. This was a decent mystery
about a reported site in New England that supposedly dates before Jamestown. She does a
good job describing archaeological techniques, looting and field schools. The fall back is as
with many first books for mystery writers she puts the protagonist in absurdly dangerous situations.

  • Saturday, October 28th – trip to Arizona State Museum (free)

  • Meet at ASM lobby at 1:30 PM

  • 3:00 pm - could also be visiting the Arizona Historical Society

  • Saturday in November wash and cleaning artifacts.

  • Dan has attempted for the past couple of Fridays to attend the student government meeting but
it was canceled and the next one no one was there, the door was locked and no one was there.

  • Rachel suggested a book called Thunderhead by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
It is kind of fantastical but I would suggest if for anyone who loves archaeology.

  • Vija presented the box for this month and Collin will be doing it for November.

  • Treasurer’s Report: $92.25.

  • Would like to post fliers at other campuses for the Archaeology Club.
Some mutual activities between the two clubs U of A and Pima.

  • Ask some people to come to give presentations.

  • Next meeting Kathy will be giving a presentation about P.I.T.T.

  • Meeting closed at 5:15 PM.
