cockroach plantDESCRIPTION: Perennial subshrub. Flowers yellow with 5 petals. Leaves simple, smooth-edged lance-shaped, mostly alternate. Apocynaceae (Dogbane) Family.
NATURAL HISTORY: Flowers bloom March to April and July to November. Name comes from its use as a poison (using dried leaves and molasses) against insects such as cockroaches, mosquitos, flies, fleas, and lice.
