DESCRIPTION:
Annual to 3'. Flowers white to greenish, with 4 petals, to 1/8" wide.
Leaves simple, smooth-edged, linear, and in whorls. Stems are weak, but
contain barbs that cling to clothes (and fur). Rubiaceae (Madder) Family.NATURAL HISTORY: Flowers bloom in spring. Name comes from fact that people once used plants to stuff their mattresses. |
