|Teddybear Cholla (Opuntia bigelovii)|
Commonly grows to 3-5' tall. Trunk tends to be dark and nearly branchless.
Branches occur at the top of the plant and are very densely spined. Flowers
bloom in spring and are yellow-green. Fruit are yellow and spineless.
NATURAL HISTORY: Teddybear Cholla almost only reproduce asexually. Stem joints fall off, or are detached into unlucky animals that brush by too closely, and sprout where they fall.
