DESCRIPTION:
Wt=6-14 lbs (2.7-6.3 kg); L=20-31" (52-80cm). Color varies considerably,
but frequently black with two white stripes down back that come together
on head. Has white stripe down center of black face. NATURAL HISTORY: Western Hog-Nosed (Conepatus mesoleucus), Hooded (Mephitis macroura), and the smaller Western Spotted Skunks (Spilogale gracilis) also here. Omnivorous. Usually nocturnal and solitary. When threatened, may spray an odoriferous liquid up to 12' (4m). |
