DESERT BIRDS OF TUCSON, AZ

Bird Thumbnails
Bird Spotlights (30)

cactus wrenOur birds add song to Tucson's desert areas. Many species of birds live year-round or migrate into our area. For example, most Mourning Doves live here year-round, whereas the White-winged Dove migrates into Tucson from Mexico during the spring and summer to take advantage of the blooming and fruiting of the Saguaro.

Major sources of information include Alden et al. (1999), ASDM (2000), Ehrlich et al. (1988), National Geographic Society (1999).
