DESCRIPTION:
WS=0.8-1.2" (21-30mm). Orange spot on crown of head. Usually has
pale spot breaking the black, forewing costal margin. Upperside orange
with black checkered pattern. Underside hindwing with terminal black line
and white spots along margin. Has a slow, fluttery flight.Family Nymphalidae, Subfamily Nymphalinae. NATURAL HISTORY: Adults fly any time of year. Larvae feed on plants in the Acanthus family, including chuparosa (Beloperone californica). |
