| Desert Orangetip (Anthocharis cethura) | |
DESCRIPTION:
WS=1-1.5" (26-40mm). Upperside white or yellow with reddish-orange
tips on the forewings. On the margin of the orange tips are white and
black markings (unlike Sara Orangetip which
has a black margin around orange tip). Underside of hindwings with green
marbling (without white ray seen in Sara Orangetip).Family Pieridae, Subfamily Pierinae NATURAL HISTORY: Adults fly February to April. Larvae feed on various mustard species (e.g., jewelflower). |
