DESCRIPTION:
WS=1-1.5" (25-38 mm). Overall has a soft brown color. Hindwing is
lobed. Upper surface is soft brown with orange patches. Forewing has jagged
medial line.
Family Hesperiidae, Subfamily Pyrginae. NATURAL HISTORY: Adults fly mostly in early spring and fall, but may be seen all year. Habitat is desert canyons where adults often seen patrolling edges and perching with wings flat and tips pointing slightly downward. Larvae feed on mallows. Adults often feed on desert lavender (Hyptis emoryi). |
