DESCRIPTION: Shrub to 3-6'. Stems are reddish-maroon, semi-succulent, and flexible as the name suggests. Leaves (rarely present) are simple, smooth-edged, heart-shaped, bent down the middle, green, and grow to 0.75" long. Flowers bloom July-August and are whitish to pale yellow, small (0.25"), tubular, and have five lobes that bend back at the rim. Euphorbiaceae (Spurge) Family.
NATURAL HISTORY: Limberbush comes "alive" during the monsoon period (producing leaves and flowers) and then quickly drops its leaves and becomes dormant again at the end of August. Limberbush and other Jatropha species are used to make baskets.
