scorpionBIO 109 students should use this site in conjuction with their Species List to learn to identify the species required for class. This site also augments information given in class. Use the site map (like a table of contents) to quickly access all parts of the website. If you want to go beyond the scope of class, then go to the comprehensive website.
TucsonTucson, Arizona sits in the Sonoran Desert, one of the most biologically rich areas in the United States. We are nearly surrounded by mountains, enjoy five seasons, and share our area with many fascinating plants and animals that have adapted to our desert conditions. Abbreviated lists of print and online resources and places to visit have been included for you to extend your knowledge. Additional natural history information is in Special Topics Boxes. My hope is that this website expands your awareness and appreciation of the many natural history stories that unfold every day in and around Tucson.
