Tortoises

Snakes

desert tortoiseReptiles of Tucson include tortoises/turtles, lizards, and snakes. Reptiles have scales and amniotic eggs (eggs with internal membranes, including the amnion membrane, and a shell). Amniotic eggs, when layed, are layed in the ground, not in the water like amphibians. Thus, newborn reptiles are like mini-versions of their parents and don't need to go through an aquatic, larval form as do most amphibians.
