Your PowerPoint presentation should have the following sections: Introduction, Methods/Results, Discussion

  • Title Slide
    • title, name(s), relevant picture(s)
  • Background Information
    • research question
    • biological interest and background info on species, etc. with pictures
    • hypotheses, deductions, variables
  • Methods
    • dates/times, location
    • sample size
    • what data were collected and how
    • data analysis
  • Results
    • present and explain tables and graphs including totals, averages, percentages, whether the data were significantly different, etc.
    • state the answer(s) to your question (tentative conclusions). For example: There were significantly more (2.2 times more) saguaros on the south side (106 per 10,000 square meters) compared to the north side (48) of the hill.
  • Causal Question
    • ask why there might or might not be a significant difference. For example: Why were there significantly more saguaros on the south side of the hill compared to the north side?
  • Multiple Hypotheses
    • state hypothesis 1 and include supporting information from literature/critical thinking
    • state hypothesis 2 and include supporting information from literature/critical thinking
    • etc.
  • Ways to Improve/Extend Study
    • state what you could do differently to improve/extend your study
