Teaching Philosophy

  • Almost anybody can learn almost anything. It is just a matter of finding your best way of learning. We will investigate your learning styles so that you may be guided in how best to assimilate the information presented in class, and so that you may know best how to study for exams.
  • To assess your learning style, go to www.metamath.com//lsweb/dvclearn.htm. Take the survey. Use the results to help you with study strategies in the future.
  • I tend to teach by lecture, visual aids and case studies. If you do not learn well this way, I am willing to work with you to find out how you can best retain this material. However, you need to meet me half way by being prepared for class, and by studying for exams.
  • I also believe that learning is enhanced when the material has a practical purpose. Consequently, you will find that I use real life examples to support the material that we will be learning in the text. I will attempt to teach you material that you will use in your allied health fields, or that you may see on your certification exams, and I will tend to avoid material that is superfluous.
