Student Exhibition 2005
The student exhibition highlights work of current studio art majors from all Pima Community College campuses. This is an excellent opportunity for students to prepare their work professionally and have it hang in a gallery and also for the community to become aware of the amazing quality of work that comes out of Pima Community College. The work is technically proficient and portrays the complex and varied lifestyles of the artists commonly found at Pima Community College whose level of education ranges from doctorate in Physics to recent high school graduates. The show will feature all disciplines of fine art – painting/drawing, photo, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry and printmaking.
Three respected and distinguished members of the art community in Tucson, nationally and internationally will jury this year’s exhibition: painter Owen Williams; photographer Cy Lehrer and painter, papermaker and instructor Catherine Nash.
The jurors will award artists in the “Best of …” categories with gift certificates that have been graciously donated by Tucson businesses including: Tucson Museum of Art, Marjon Ceramics, Sarnoff Artist Materials, Posner's, Pima College Bookstore, PCC Center for the Arts, Bookman's, Jones Photo, Starr Gem, Wild Oats and Trader Joe’s.

Juror's Statement
Facing a gallery overwhelmingly and impressively packed full of wonderful artworks with having to significantly edit the numbers was a daunting task for us. The act of collaboratively making decisions about the entered works was a very interesting challenge and process. Our individual opinions had to find consensus between three different aesthetic sensibilities. Ultimately we agreed on works that were engaging in content, showed a mastery of media and visual skills and were presented in a professional way. As a whole, we are impressed by the incredible talent displayed in the submissions to this show, and encourage all, including those who may be disappointed, to continue their pursuit of creative expression and the public sharing of their art. Congratulations on such fine work!
Cy Lehrer, Catherine Nash and Owen Williams
