Desert Dandelion (Malacothrix californica)
desert dandelionDESCRIPTION: Also called M glabrata. Annual to 16". Flower head (1.75" wide) pale yellow outer, yellow inner (reddish center until all petals expanded). Leaves simple, pinnately lobed, linear, mostly basal, to 5" long. Compositae (Sunflower) Family.
NATURAL HISTORY: Flowers bloom March to June.
