Common Monkey Flower (Mimulus guttatus)
common monkey flowerDESCRIPTION: Perennial herb to 3'. Flowers to 1.5" long, yellow with red spots in throat. Flowers have 2 upper petal lobes and 3 lower petal lobes. Leaves simple, toothed, oval, opposite to 4" long. Scrophulariaceae (Snapdragon or Figwort) Family.
NATURAL HISTORY: Flowers bloom spring through fall. Commonly found in wetter areas.
