Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis)
desert willowDESCRIPTION: Large shrub to small tree to 25'. Bark dark brown with ridges. Flowers to 1.5" long, tubular, white to pink with yellow throat. Has brown, narrow, seed capsules to 8" long. Leaves simple, smooth-edged, linear to 6" long. Bignoniaceae (Bignonia) Family.
NATURAL HISTORY: Flowers bloom April to August. Not a true willow (Salicaceae). Often used in landscaping.
