DESCRIPTION:
Wt=5-13 lbs (2.3-6 kg). Overall grizzled gray, with rufous on lower sides
and chest, and white on belly and throat. Tip of tail is black.
NATURAL HISTORY: Omnivorous. Mostly nocturnal or crepuscular, but may
be seen foraging any time of day. Solitary except during breeding season
and raising young when both parents care for the 1-7 young. The Gray Fox
is the only American member of the dog family that has true climbing ability,
and they frequently can be seen hunting or seeking shelter in trees.
