DESCRIPTION:
Shrub to 6'. Flowers orange, tubular to 1.25" long with 4 petal lobes,
two stamens, and a long, white pistil. Leaves simple, smooth-edged, elliptical
to linear to 2.5" long. Stems with shreddy bark. Acanthaceae (Acanthus)
Family. NATURAL HISTORY: Flowers bloom March to June and October to December. This plant is pollinated by hummingbirds and is a "typical" hummingbird flower (tubular and brightly-colored). |
