DESCRIPTION:
Wt=6-7 oz (170-200g). L=8-11" (204-278mm). Overall light beige. Tail
is long, not bushy (as in other squirrels spotlit here) and tipped black.
NATURAL HISTORY: Omnivorous, feeding mostly on succulent, green plant
material augmented with seeds, insects, and even carrion (you will occasionally
see them feeding of roadkill of their own species). Diurnal or crepuscular.
Hibernate in winter and estivate (see topor) during dry summer. Social,
living in colonies. Look for these in Sabino Canyon and in our parks.
