NATURAL HISTORY: Carnivorous, especially deer, but also Javelina,
Bighorn Sheep, jackrabbits, and other smaller
mammals. Active at all times of the day. Solitary except for about two
weeks during mating season. Home ranges vary with habitat quality and
prey availability. Very rarely attack humans; usually secretive and difficult

he will often kill any cubs he finds so that the females come into estrus
sooner and he can father their cubs.
