DESCRIPTION:
Perennial to 3', flower stalk to 5' (not much taller than leaves). Flowers
white, tubular (to 3" long), bell-shaped, in clusters along tall
stalk. Fruit is bananalike to 5" long. Leaves a basal rosette, linear
to 3' long. Leaves have a spine only at tip, and have white, peeling fibers
along edge of leaves. Agavaceae (Agave) Family.NATURAL HISTORY: Flowers bloom April to July and are pollinated by yucca moth. Used by native people to make baskets, sandals, mats, etc. |
